The Indian Council of Rehabilitation and Sports for the Disabled was founded in the year 1978 in Kolkata with a view of enhancing the sports culture, action and mobility among the physically challenged citizens of our country.ICRSD has since taken leading part in and an organized sport meets at Regional, National as well as International sporting events at several levels. ICRSD organized its first National Sports Meet in Kolkata in the year 1992. ICRSD sent the Indian Team to the Seoul Para Olympics in the year 1988 and also to the Barcelona Para Olympics in 1992. The president of the ICRSD team – DR. Tapan Kumar Dhar led the Indian Para Olympics team as Sheff-De-Mission.
